Today’s blog post is about a foundation I’ve been thinking about purchasing for the last couple of months: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.
I wanted to try a high end foundation and hopefully buy one. This is defiantly a luxury purchase for me. I bought this while we were in Hawaii for $45 from Macy’s. More info after the jump!
I was after a lighter coverage foundation because my skin has been behaving very well ever since using Proactiv. This foundation is definitely a light coverage. It has a lovely scent. I read that it was quite strong & not many would like it but I really like it. It smells fresh & a little like sunscreen.
It comes in a nice plastic squeeze container which makes it very handy for traveling. Of course it has the signature “CC” on the top of the lid. You have to shake it up before using as it is water based.
The foundation is quite runny because of being water based. You defiantly won’t get full coverage out of this foundation.
I find the best way to apply this is with your fingers. I even asked the Chanel counter girl I bought it from and she suggests applying it with your fingers and if you need to blend out more, then use a foundation brush very lightly.
It sets to a natural finish. Not entirely matte but not dewy. It looks very natural on the skin, I think partly because of using your fingers to blend it in. It looks like you’re wearing nothing, but it gives you a light coverage. Kinda strange, I know, but if you try it out, you’ll know what I mean.
Longevity is no where near my Revlon Colorstay Foundation, but that is a much thicker heavy duty foundation so you can’t really compare. When I’m going for a natural “no makeup, makeup look” I always reach for the Vitalumiere Aqua. I really do love it!
Is it worth US$45? Probably not. I can’t really justify any makeup product costing that much but it is a nice splurge item. You feel quite fancy wearing it. Atleast I do 😉
** When you are feeling down, apply a little makeup. It does wonders for the soul. 🙂 **
